Most expensive Spider-Man comics on eBay cost $1M (NEXSTAR) — The world's favorite web-slinging superhero swings back into theaters this weekend with "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," the latest computer-animated installment in Columbia Pictures and Sony's "Spider-Man" film saga. Morales is perhaps the best known Spidey besides "first" Spider-Man Peter Parker — and he was only just introduced in 2011's "Ultimate Fallout #4: Spider-Man No More." Phil Dunster reveals he ‘cried so much’ saying goodbye to ‘Ted Lasso’ In that story, Morales, who possesses many of the same spider-bite-induced powers as Parker, takes over the Spider-helm after Parker's death in an alternate universe. The introduction of Afro-Latino New Yorker Morales was highly controversial but the character has gone on to enjoy popularity outside of Parker's shadow. The polarizing 2011 death of Peter Parker brought an end to t...

Gov. Abbott stands by plan to lower property taxes, promises to pass school vouchers AUSTIN (Nexstar) — Gov. Greg Abbott delivered remarks Friday afternoon at a post-session fireside chat with a conservative think tank, following a public clash this week with the lieutenant governor over differing property tax proposals. On Tuesday the Texas Public Policy Foundation hosted Patrick for a similar event, where he gave a boisterous speech slamming House Speaker Dade Phelan and promising to "not back down" from the Senate's plan for property tax relief. Who will win from proposed Texas property tax relief plans? The Texas Legislature, which finished its regular session Monday, already set aside $17.6 billion from the state's budget to give Texans property tax relief. However, ideological differences between the two chambers about how to deliver that stalled lawmakers Monday from adjourning. They inevitably gaveled out sine die, or indefinitely, without a deal. Hours later, Abbott called them back for a first special session with demands for lawmakers to strike a deal o...

City of Austin to treat harmful algae growth on Lady Bird Lake AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The City of Austin said it would soon apply a treatment on Lady Bird Lake to try to mitigate the growth of harmful algae. The treatment program is part of the city's third year undergoing a pilot program that aims to reduce the algae on parts of the lake. PREVIOUS: City finds blue-green algae on Lady Bird Lake, Lake Austin; algae may be toxic Lanthanum-modified clay will be applied near Red Bud Isle and along the north shore of the lake between I-35 and the lagoon near the Festival Boat Ramp. The clay binds to phosphorus, which is a key source of nutrients for algae. Once it binds to a mineral form, the phosphorus becomes unavailable to the algae and "essentially robs the algae of one of its primary food sources," the release said. The first applications are expected to happen at Red Bud Isle on Monday, June 5, and east of I-35...
