FDA warns against counterfeit Ozempic

(KRON) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Novo Nordisk are investigating counterfeit Ozempic (semaglutide). Ozempic is an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Ozempic also is used to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events. Senators say diabetes and obesity epidemics are harming health of millions of Americans and costing billions of dollars The manufacturer of Ozempic Novo Nordisk and the FDA are testing the seized products and do not yet have information about the drugs’ identity, quality, or safety.The counterfeit drug has non-serious but adverse reactions that are common with the authentic Ozempic, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation.According to the entities’ analysis, the needles in the inauthentic Ozempic are also counterfeit and the sterility cannot be confirmed. (NEXSTAR) – While violent crime has dropped to pre-pandemic levels nationwide, the FBI announced, changes weren't the same across the board. The crime rates remained elevated in dozens of cities around the country.Personal finance site MoneyGeek used the FBI crime data to look at crime rates in 302 large cities and 1,010 small cities and towns around the country. They looked at both violent crime and property crime, and used research by the University of Miami and the University of Colorado Denver to determine the cost of crime in each area. After crunching the numbers, the large city with the highest cost of crime was Birmingham, Alabama. The violent crime rate – which includes instances of murder, manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault – in Birmingham was 1,682 per 100,000 residents. Wade only allowed states to regulate abortion after the point of fetal viability. It allowed states to regulate abortion under certain circumstances before that point. The AP also reported that viability is typically around the 24th to 28th week of pregnancy.
