DETROIT (AP) — Jeep maker Stellantis has reached a tentative contract agreement with the United Auto Workers union that follows a template set earlier this week by Ford, two people with knowledge of the negotiations said Saturday. The deal, which still has to be ratified by members, leaves only General Motors without a contract with the union. The agreement could end a six-week strike by more than 14,000 workers at Stellantis assembly plants in Michigan and Ohio, and at parts warehouses across the nation.Like workers at Ford, the strikers at Stellantis are expected to take down their picket lines and start returning to work in the coming days, before 43,000 union members vote. The people, who asked not to be identified because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the talks, said most of the main points of the deal at Ford will carry over to Stellantis. The Ford pact includes 25% in general wage increases over the next 4 1/2 years for top assembly plant workers, with 11% comi...GOP presidential candidate Hutchinson must find a new campaign manager but vows to stay in the race

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Hutchinson, who entered the 2024 race in April, has struggled to make in-roads as an anti-Donald Trump candidate. He failed to qualify for the party’s second debate and seems unlikely to make the third, on Nov. 8, when participants must meet the most stringent requirements yet.“Clearly I am working hard to win votes and to increase my voting percentages, particularly in the early states,” Hutchinson told The Associated Press. “It’s not unusual for a campaign to have a midcourse adjustment and that’s what you’ll be seeing here with Rob’s departure and with readjustments that we’ll make i...Chicago man sentenced to 88 years after sexually assaulting woman at Oak Brook hotel

(NEXSTAR) – The lyrics to the decades-old Kit Kat jingle would suggest that each individual chocolate-covered Kit Kat wafer is known as a “piece.”But strictly speaking, that’s not the official term.“The standard bars consist of four pieces, called fingers, and each finger can be snapped from the bar as an individual piece,” the Hershey Company writes of Kit Kat on the brand’s official website.Though it may seem like an interesting choice, the term “finger” isn’t an altogether uncommon term for a rectangular or oblong treat. Ladyfingers, for instance, are a common ingredient in cakes or tiramisu, and the Keebler Company has long produced a brand of sandwich cookie known as Vienna Fingers. Even some companies that produce shortbread cookies or snack cakes call their products “fingers.” McDonald’s getting rid of signature utensil as part of ‘sustainable makeover’ What’s more unique about Kit Kat, however, is that “finger” rarely appears in the bar’s marketing materials or packaging.E...Expert says early exposure to horror movies ‘potentially traumatic’ for young kids

LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK) -- The horror movie genre is considered one the most popular film genres in the world. Film Site defines horror films as “films designed to frighten and panic, cause dread and alarm and to invoke our hidden worst fears.” With Halloween just days away, several horror movies have been released in theaters and on streaming platforms over the last month. IGN called streaming the “new frontier for horror movies” due to its increasing accessibility for people of all ages. The newfound accessibility on streaming platforms raises the question: “Should children be allowed to watch horror movies?” Clinical psychologist Dr. Natalie Scanlon with the Texas Tech Health and Human Sciences Center said she encourages caregivers not to show children content that is too graphic or gory.“Spare them any of the gory details, violence, blood, guts, that type of thing, just because they're not developmentally ready to see those images and not think that they're real,” D...Latest news
